In 2014, Burkina Faso’s capital Ouagadougou hosted the International Forum “Africa and Beauty” (Afriqueetbeauté) for the fourth time. The FIAB ― as it is called ― is organized by the Association Nature et Culture-Burkina (ANC-B) and Sama Bioconsult at the initiative of LVMH Research. The ABS Initiative is one of several partners of the FIAB. This event is an opportunity for dialogue between representatives of global companies, such as LVMH, and representatives from provider countries about the valorization of biodiversity and ABS compliant value chains.
In 2012 the Initiative also supported, at the request of the National ABS / CBD Focal Point, a parliamentarians briefing on ABS and the Nagoya Protocol.
Burkina Faso ratified the Nagoya Protocol in January 2014.
